Our partner organization in Costa Rica supports a range of projects through the placement of volunteers and the distribution of funds.
Eat So They Can’s project site in Costa Rica this year is called Hogar Esperanza. This home provides care, support and guidance to carriers of HIV. Due to the health issues of those living there, a proper diet is vital to the success of their treatments. Although the Hogar has a standard food supply, they are not able to support the nutritional plan that a nutritionist has set for the home to follow. The home very rarely has any the lean meat or protein that residents should have as a part of their healthy diet.
By working with a local store near the project site, our partner organization would like to address this issue by purchasing a weekly supply of meats and healthy proteins to add to the normal rice, beans, starchy vegetables and semi-regular fruits and veggies that the project always has. By improving the diet of the residents at the Hogar, this will improve their general health as well as the success of their treatments.
