Our partner organization in Guatemala supports a range of projects through the placement of volunteers and the distribution of funds.
Eat So They Can’s project site in Guatemala is an after-school program located in a rural town outside of Antigua, Guatemala. The founder, a local from Antigua, started the program with the support of his family in 2010. He noticed that many of the families in the area struggled with poverty and education. He felt that the best way to combat such problems would be to educate and support children from the community. The project is an after school program that caters to about 40-50 children daily. Activities are provided in the afternoon that help reinforce the education some of the children receive in school and that provides basic education to the children that do not go to school. Children learn English, basic computer schools, math, reading and writing. The program is dedicated to developing a better community by providing the children with the skills they need for a more independent and successful future. Funds raised for this project will pay for the daily snack of the 40-50 children that attend the after-school program and vitamins to supplement the nutrition of the students and their families.
