Peru - Huchuy Yachaq

In Peru, we also work with a community center called Huchuy Yachaq in the Hermanos Ayer community near Cusco. The objective of the center is to improve the quality of life of the children and youth that are living in the community. This is achieved through three programs. First, their education program provides a library and homework support club. Second, their family and community program provides workshops and pyschosocial support for families. Third, their capacity-building program is empowering the mothers of the community by teaching them vocational skills.

Funds raised through Eat So They Can will be used to support two projects:

Nutritious Snack program: This program provides a daily nutritious snack to the children who come to the community center. This program encourages the children to come to the center where they can get assistance with their homework and also provides a valuable source of nutrition.

Women's Empowerment program: This program provides capacity-building workshops for the mothers of the children from the community. The goal of this program is to give the mothers the opportunity to generate income so that they can feed and take care of themselves and their families.

Did you know... that it only costs approximately $109 to provide a child with a hot snack every day for a year through the Nutritious Snack Program at Huchuy Yachaq!
