Our primary partner organization in Peru is called Peruvian Hearts. The organizations was founded by Ana Dodson when she was just 11 years old. Ana was born in Peru and was adopted by an American family when she was a baby. Her family took her on a trip back to Peru when she was 11 because they wanted her to embrace her heritage and this is when Ana made the decision to set up an organization to assist Peruvian children.
Funds raised for Peru through Eat So They Can will be used to support our partner's Nutrition for Change program. This program provides a daily nutritious lunch and multi-vitamin for 350 children attending schools in Lamay and the Colca Canyon.
The goal of the Nutrition for Change program is not only to reduce malnutrition among children, but also to improve school attendance and achievement by providing the lunch and multi-vitamin at schools.
"Peruvian Hearts has taught me that even when one sees a situation that appears to be hopeless there is still hope. I believe that each person can change the world a little bit at a time. - Ana Dodson.
Did you know... that it only costs approximately $65 to provide a child at Lamay School a daily nutritious lunch and vitamin for a whole year!
