Eat So They Can

Eat So They Can is an international fundraiser that invites citizens of the world to participate in what is collectively one huge dinner party; where something as simple as sharing a meal with friends can help stop child poverty. The event is co-initiative of the Global Volunteer Network (GVN), the GVN Foundation and GVNF Australia.

The inaugural Eat So They Can event took place on the 13th of October 2007 in conjunction with the UN's World Food Day. On this day, people all over the globe held private dinner parties, large and small, and collected donations from their guests. The Funds raised through the parties were then donated to the GVN Foundation to benefit the Kenyan Children's Fund, which supports Kenyan children in need.

Through this collective dinner party, Eat So They Can 2007 raised USD $37,000! Click here to see how the funds raised were distributed.

In 2008, the weekend of the 18th and 19th of October played host to Eat So They Can events across the whole world. This global event raised over USD $55,000 and funds collected through the 2008 event have been used to aid children in our projects in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, and South Africa. The funds were used to benefit the Global Children's Fund.

In 2009, over $180,000 was raised! Funds collected from 2009 events will be used to aid children in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Africa, Tanzania, and Peru. Along with donations to our partners in the countries mentioned, the distribution trip to Kenya with the Grand Prize winner will occur this April!
