Eat So They Can

Eat So They Can is an international fundraiser that invites citizens of the world to participate in what is collectively one huge dinner party; where something as simple as sharing a meal with friends can help stop child poverty. The event is co-initiative of the Global Volunteer Network (GVN) and the GVN Foundation.

The inaugural Eat So They Can event took place on the 13th of October 2007 in conjunction with the UN's World Food Day. On this day, people all over the globe held private dinner parties, large and small, and collected donations from their guests. These Funds raised through the parties were then donated to the GVN Foundation to benefit the Kenyan Children's Fund, which supports Kenyan children in need.

Through this collective dinner party, Eat So They Can 2007 raised USD $37,000! Click here to see how the funds raised were distributed.

In 2008, Eat So They Can will take place over the weekend of the 18th and 19th of October and aims to raise USD $100,000. Funds collected through this year's event will expand to benefit the African Children's Fund, which will aid children in all the programs in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, and South Africa that GVN currently supports.
